Our advertiser, Westside Organics, who's handsome delivery van zooms in and out of that advertising banner up there, has given us a couple of boxes of fresh, organic produce to give away to you! Since last time we did this, Niall K. had won within thirty minutes of the post going up (but thanks again to everyone who entered), we're going to shake things up this time. So we're asking our readers to write one or more haiku about their favorite fruit or vegetable. Don't know haiku? Well, it's pretty simple -- a five syllable line, followed by a seven syllable line, follwed by another five syllable line. They don't even have to rhyme! For example:
The sun in the sky,
Heirloom tomatoes are here!
Call New York and gloat.Avocados free,
Over your neighbor's tall fence.
When ripe, steal at night.Safeway sucks ass.
Berkeley Bowl: No parking.
Try delivery!
First, you should check to make sure that you live in the Westside Organics delivery area, and you must include your email and your first and last name -- don't worry, we would never give or sell your information to anyone. You are welcome to write as many haiku as you like, but all entries will be judged individually. So send in your musings on flora by midnight on February 20th and maybe you'll be our lucky winner. Runners-up will have their poetic soul bared for the world to see on our announcement post on the 21st. Needless to say, the staff here at SFist are recusing ourselves from this contest. All entries will be compiled into an anonymous list by the editor and then voted on by the rest of the staff, if you're worried we'll play favorites.
