Winter of Love Doc Trailer Online

winter_of_love_documentary.jpg
Alex Clemens of San Francisco Usual Suspects posted a link on Friday to a new website which we found on Chris Nolan's Politics from Left to Right. Looks like the documentary by producers Geoff Callan and Mike Shaw, which was mentioned in Tad Friend's bit of kudos-slathering about Gavin Newsom [PDF link from Usual Suspects], now has their website and trailer up.

Rush to the Civil Altar, a documentary about our Winter of Love, has footage of the Mayor's meetings in the days leading up to the Valentine's happening, as well as footage of the ensuing exchanges of heartfelt vows from long-time couples and reactionary moralizing from bible-thumping bigots. Geoff Callan, a local who's acted in a number of commercials and character roles, is Gavin's brother-in-law (for now [Ed. Note: Color us embarassed, Geoff is married to Gavin's sis.]) -- but we're sure he got his special access thanks to his talent as a filmmaker.
