Thanks Rita! All this talk of supersleuths and animal rescue is just screaming for some kind of hybrid show. A "Lassie" for the year 2005! She doesn't save Timmy from the well, but she does bring his kidnapping murderer to justice!

I'm with you guys. Tim and I discovered Animal Cops when we were vacationing in a cabled environment. After two or three episodes, I balked, screaming through tears "Why do we watch this show? How is it animal rescue when all they do is put them to sleep?" Of course, this was Animal Cops: Detroit, so it was like 8 Mile without rapping and with a gas chamber. Which sounds sort of appealing, when couched in those terms... Anyway, my point is I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one who gets emotional about these types of shows.

I knew you'd be on it, Rain! And you're totally right; I see that "parental discretion is advised" tag at the beginning of those animal cop show and always feel like I should call my mother and ask. That said, I can't help watching 'em anyways -- I love watching the cops go in and raid a house filled with cats. So best.

Don't worry Rita, Animal Cops is totally getting a write-up next week, I just wanted to see an episode first. (Although I always find the animal cops and animal ER shows incredibly hard to watch. I inevitably spend the entire show crying.)

....and in the whole crime-solving local scene angle, can I just mention that Animal Cops San Francisco is starting next week??? If I could give it four thumbs-up on the TiVo, I totally would!

And, again, I'll pimp the "teen angst" version -- Veronica Mars. New episodes start in February, I believe. Though murder isn't usually the order of the day (only the long-term background plot; the in-episode mysteries are usually less grisly).
