Stage Fog: Be a Couch Potato Somewhere Else for a Change

The Golden Girls...on stage? We're sorry for the lack of Stage Fog updates lately -- we got a TiVo over the holidays, and frankly, we've been watching more television than is probably good for us. So we're getting out of the house -- and watching some more television. On stage, that is! Thanks to SFist Rita, who points us to her friend's show (remember, it pays to be a Friend of SFist, and no, we don't mean that kind of friend), which is a live rendering of a couple of classics of situation comedy. We can't remember who did "The Real Live Brady Bunch" locally some years back, but we're real sorry we missed it. And if we lived in Seattle, we'd be all over Theater Schmeater's renditions of "Twilight Zone" eps. So get up off your couch, you slob, and go check out some quality television rendered right in front of your eyes:

TVLAND! Second Season at Theatre Tableau Vivant
Pass the Hat Productions presents an episode each of "Three's Company" and "The Golden Girls." Here's what they have to say about their show: "The only way to relive 1970s/1980s television -- live and in drag! In the second season we'll interpret two "hospital" episodes -- "Three's Company" tells the story of Jack Tripper, who, after a drunken evening out with his buddies gets a tattoo, then goes to the hospital to have it removed, leading to -- you guessed it! -- hilarious comic misunderstandings! "The Golden Girls" tackles a major issue when Rose gets a blood transfusion, and is called back to the hospital for an HIV test. Hilarious one-liners and poingant moments of girl bonding ensue!" Eight performances only: Fri and Sat, Jan 28 and 29 and Feb 4 and 5, two shows a night at 8pm & 11pm. At Theatre Tableau Vivant, 574 Natoma Street, SF. For reservations, email them or call (415) 621-8417.

For more stage options, check out the listings at the Guardian, the Express, the SF Weekly, and the calendar on Theatre Bay Area's website.

Sarah Jones, who was represented by a company that I used to work for in New York (we've both, uh, gotten to famous for them now) is performing a solo show "Bridge and Tunnel" at the Berkeley Rep, which will run for another couple of weeks. Mixing characters, spoken word and music, it's a chance to see the woman behind Ninja Tunes' classic release "The Revolution Will Not Happen Between These Thighs."
