New SFist Contributor: Rain Jokinen

rainluvsit.jpg SFist is proud to presnt you YET another San Francisco native. We could have asked Rain probing questions about going to high school with Margaret Cho, Sam Rockwell, and Aisha Tyler--YES!! THAT Aisha Tyler, but we chose instead to ask more meaningful questions about the best burrito and best deal in San Francisco.

If you don't own a TV set, Rain might not have much to say to you, but to those who do, she will gladly debate the varied qualities of the latest "America's Next Top Model" contestants or argue over just what the monster is lurking in the bushes on "Lost" into the wee hours of the morning. Basically, if it flickers and tells some kind of story, Rain will watch it. At least once. And then she might even write about it. Make sure to check out Rain's weekly TV picks on SFist. Welcome Rain!

Name: Rain Jokinen

Introduce yourself in one sentence:
I like cake.

Age and Occupation:
34. My job involves....the INTERNET!!! Ewwwww!

Home Town:
San Francisco!

How long have you lived in the Bay Area and Where and WHY?:Born and raised in the City and I just never found a reason to leave. Grew up in the Mission and Potrero Hill and have lived on Nob Hill for the past 10+ years.

Favorite website:Um. SFist. And Musty TV!

What I'm currently Reading:America: The Book

Best Deal in San Francisco: Is there still 25 cent Pabst at the Hush Hush on Fridays? Grab a burrito, head over there and you've got yourself an evening!

Favorite mode of transportation: My bike, when it doesn't involve going up a hill.

Best Band or Musician to come out of the Bay Area: Chris Isaak

Favorite local hangout: Zeitgeist

SF has the BEST: Crazies

You've never lived in SF until: You've spent a freezing Fourth of July on a rooftop watching the fireworks glow through the fog.

Best solicitation from a pan handler: That guy that keeps his coin bowl propped in his false leg? That's all kinds of wrong.

SF would be soooo much better if only: The damned rents would go down. Period.

Best Burrito: El Castilto

Best Restaurant: La Traviata

Best movie scene filmed in or about SF: Pick any scene in "Petulia."

I want all the SFists out there to know: That you should never call it "Frisco."

Tell us a San Francisco Story: My copy of "Alice in Wonderland" once belonged to Augustus Owsley, the man who invented street acid. I must have stolen it during a visit with his daughter, whom I was friends with as a kid. Not really a story, but still kind of cool.

Place you always tell visitors to check out: The end of Vermont street. THAT'S the curviest street in the City. Only
rubes drive down Lombard.

Favorite Bridge in the area: The Golden Gate can still manage to wow me every now and then.

You have two hours and $15 bucks to kill in SF, what are you going to do? That would depend on who I have to kill. And 15 bucks to kill someone doesn't seem like near enough. I'm just saying.

I have found/sold/bought the following on craigslist:
Haven't bought or sold anything, but I did go on a few unfortunate blind dates via a personal ad I once placed. Never again!

I wanted to be an SFist contributor because (besides the obvious fame and glory that would be mine):
I'm a whore for the bling.
