Any Way You Want It
When we were younger, so much younger than today, we had a hate/hate relationship with the band Journey, probably caused by all those eighth grade dances we went to where the DJ would play “Open Arms” and we'd circle around and around the dance floor trying to summon up the courage to ask someone to dance while all the couples made out in the corner. Since then, we’ve evolved from a love/hate relationship to a love/love relationship with the band, a result of discovering just how much fun drunkenly singing “Don’t Stop Believing” at the top of our lungs can be. Obviously, we are not the only one’s who feel this way as other Journey fans, actually that of high-pitched lead singer Steve Perry (like there’d be one for that lame-ass wanna-be Steve Perry who replaced him), have created their very own site of Steve Perry Slash Fiction- Perry Tales.
Like a lot of these types of sites, we have no idea what the irony level is- most of the people seem awfully sincere. On the other hand, is there anyway to appreciate Journey without some level of irony? Have you seen the video for Separate Ways? Are there any lyrics less rock n’ roll than that of “Lovin’, Touchin,’ Squeezin’”? Anyways, the sites’ writers have posted several fictional stories based on their hero- comedy, drama, romance. There’s even poetry, flash animation, and an inspiring true story as one writer recounts their meeting with Mr. Oh. Sherrie.
It goes without saying that this site is all kinds of awesome.
