Monday Morning Quarterback

sp_niners81045lm_small.jpgThe 49ers have now matched their worst-ever performances from the late seventies by beating the woeful Arizona Cardinals, 31-28, but are still officially the worst team in the league. SFist has never liked Dennis Erickson -- always one step ahead of the NCAA investigators during his college coaching career, the man has never coached a successful NFL franchise. We wonder why on earth he's still even working. Oh, right, the ineptitude of the 49ers' front office. The Niners host the Skins next Saturday.

The Silver and Black didn't put up much of a fight against the playoff-bound Atlanta Falcons, losing 35-10. Former Raider Rod Coleman was all over the place, swatting down Kerry Collins' passes and even returning an interception 47 yards for a touchdown. Warren Sapp, who the Raiders replaced Coleman with during the offseason, executed his responsibilities to perfection. Problem was, those responsibilities began and ended with riding the pine. The Raiders host the Titans on Sunday.
