We Read The Weeklies

...even though all the papers are damp!

mn_protest-newsbox_bw.jpgYes, yes, we promised you new pictures but it's again the same angry anti-war protesters. We lied, just like the president did. Anyways! Enough tedious politicking. We tackle the Weekly! Matt Smith: Seceding from the US – a man with a plan! (put it on the ballot, like the governor recall). Dog Bites counts the number of animal stories in the Chron over the last two months (30). The Weekly Obsessions column can't stop listening to KOIT and its light rock less talk Christmas programming. Cover: business woes at a local Point Reyes newspaper. Everyone's talking about the Arcade Fire! A music reviewer likes the new Lindsay Lohan album! And Savage Love features its winner of the "buy a week of advice" contest, and the guest Savage is a gal from around these parts. Go team! The schtick? Savage grades her advice (she averages an A-). Enter the next auction and make our city proud again.

The Guardian and the Weekly of the Week after the jump. (They didn't deliver Metros or East Bay Expresses to us this week. We're not just being lazy, we swear!)

mn_destroy1.jpgHit us with some more of that Guardian! A letter writer urges protests in the streets in response to the firing of the Castro's movie programmer, and someone else also thought the GBV show was filled with thugs. Hate-offs about the future of Burning Man. Cover: bar reviews!!! Oh, alcohol, the solace of our nation! We rest ourselves in your hoppy arms! And look, SFist Jackson, more listings of bars where it's legal to smoke! Gay bars, dance bars, bars with food, bars with happy hours during the week, places to get one drink and split – so many different ways to rearrange the names of places we know and love! Ahhh, beer (contented sigh). Moving on -- oh look, the Guardian also loves the Arcade Fire! And alas, no Hooray For Anything this week – he's taking a break.

Weekly of the Week: It's not a super inspiring week, but props to the Guardian, who takes it away with its exhaustive bar coverage. Mmmm, beer. (And hey, have you heard of this band the Arcade Fire?)
