SFist Watches: TV This Week

SFist knows that some good movies have been shot in the city. But damned if they ever seem to run them on TV. At least, not on the basic cable we're set up with.

Final Analysis, airing Wednesday at 11:30am on AMC, is an example of a bad San Francisco movie. Richard Gere stars as a San Franciso shrink and Uma Thurman is his patient. Uma also has a sister, played by Kim Basinger. One look at Kim and old Dick starts with the drooling. Apparently the only cure for Uma is having sex with Kim. And then Eric Roberts shows up with a gun. We think the whole thing ends atop some high structure during a thunderstorm, something we get ALL the time here in San Francisco.

Believe it or not, there are worse sexual thrillers set in San Francisco than "Final Analysis." And Jade is one of them. David Caruso stars as a District Attorney pursuing a case involving the death of a local art dealer. His ex-flame, Linda Fiorentino, is the prime suspect. Compromising photos, a hooker named Jade, and Chazz Palminteri all play a part in the mess, and if you needed any other clues to the film's awfulness, then look no further than the name on the screenplay: Joe Ezterhas. William Friedkin directed it, which means there's a pretty good car chase thrown in the middle, but other than that, not much. Especially on basic cable. We dare you to watch it! 8:00am Thursday on USA.

SFist knows break-ups can be tough, especially when you live in a city as small as San Francisco. The chance that you will run into that ex at your favorite bar or even just walking down the street is almost inevitable. So we feel for Dweezil Zappa and Lisa Loeb. Imagine channel surfing at four in the morning only to stumble across the image of you and your ex getting all gooey over chocolate cake on the Food Network. Horrors! So we hope Dweezil and Lisa are tucked into their respective beds snoring away when the Food Network re-runs the San Francisco episode of their show Dweezil & Lisa this Friday at 4:00am. Watch them sample items at the Ferry Building Marketplace and Citizen Cake. And take a good look at that Dweezil. I think he only hears what he wants to...
