For some reason, I only discovered this place AFTER I moved away from the Panhandle... we lived only blocks away, so it would have been a welcome addition to my sketchbook-cafe habit. I don't really remember the coffee, the staff, or even the clintele... but that camel wall is etched into my cortex like an acid bath.

Hey, after reading this I want to get up and sing the "Marseille" because I'm expecting to see bogart on the set of "Casablanca." That plane is taking off you see.

When I was visualizing myself with a dog, I imagined myself outside at Abir, so htb is righ ton the money. The outside thing there is very nice.

Haven't had the coffee, but it's a great place to go for beer. They have a good selection of quality beer on tap (and yes, reasonably priced.) But the reason Abir wins the bonus round in my book? The post-90's formula of Liquor License + Outdoor Seating = Great Place to Enjoy a Beer and a Smoke.

I second everything Jeremy has just said. Abir was my local coffee place for several years, and was again when I lived with Tara. Great atmosphere and crowd, but my coffee and/or food order was invariably fucked up by someone who had absolutely no interest in correcting the error. My solution was to go at night and drink beer, which is near-impossible to mess up.
