IOBA-newsletter-HumphreyBogartSamSpade-2-03.jpgGonna eat that? Closing arguments in the Fajitagate criminal trial started yesterday. The defendant cops (Tonsing, Lee, and Fagan, Jr.) claimed that the victim Santoro started the fight ("What, because I'm from the Mission, I have to have a knife?"), was drunk, had martial arts training, and was carrying cocaine in his pocket. The DA argued instead that the cops beat up Santoro because they thought they were above the law. "It's okay -- who's going to cite them, the cops?" The case is expected to go to the jury later this afternoon.

A disoriented elderly Korean woman was found in Berkeley at the bus stop at Shattuck and University with no identification. She did not speak English, did not know her name, and was unable to name any friends or relatives who could pick her up. She did remember that she was born in April 1925. Police translators says they think her name might be Oh Byungae, and she may have a son named Sunsoon Im or Lim in San Francisco. The woman is about 5 feet tall, 110 pounds, and is wearing a lavender pullover and plaid pants. She's been transferred to the hospital, but call the Berkeley police if you have any information. Update: Her family has picked her up.
