andrew has a point - fresno DOES have a lot of people; it very well COULD be the capital of any other state. therefore, i urge all other states to drop their current capitals and adopt fresno. i predict that boise shall be the first to fall. also, i don't think anyone here has ever claimed to be open-minded. and i think that's the first time anyone has ever accused us of posessing intellect. :) SFist mattymatt.

hey jerks. fresno has half a million people. thats almost as much as SF. We would be any other states capitol if it werent for our big sloppy arrogant ungrateful asshole stepsisters to the north and south. There's a story about a couple of U.S. Interstate highway designers who are about to leave the office for the weekend. One of them suddenly stops and says, "Oh, shit -- we forgot to do the 5!" The other designer groans, and then says, "Well, hand me that ruler over there." He draws a straight line through the state and then says, "OK, let's go get a beer."

Well, I'm a native San Franciscan, and I will admit to saying "The 5" on more than one trip to Disneyland (alas, not Disneyana, although I've driven past that too, on 101. That's right, not *the* 101.) There's something just so LA about the 5 that I can't help but add that article.

You claim SF residence yet you say things like "the 5"! Are you just being ironic by using LAese? Up here, it's "I-5" or "101" or "Highway 1". Definite articles are for Southern Californians and Phoenicians.
