For those who were totally underwhelmed by last week's DVD picks, we got bad news- it's even less exciting this week. How exciting? One of the featured DVDs this week is the first season of 21 Jump Street. Personally, we're not even sure if this week is even worth a post, but as this is a new regular feature on SFist, we gotta post. So if you're really desperate to buy something, here's what's new this week. And if you're not desperate to buy something this week, wait til next week as it's a pretty rocking week for DVD titles. Three words- James T. Kirk.
White Chicks- If you were to get us drunk- very drunk- tie us up with Wonder Woman's truth-telling lasso, and tell us you won't hold it against us, maybe- just maybe- we'd admit that we actually kind of enjoyed this movie. But since that's not happening, you'll never get us to admit it . Starring the Zeppo & Gummo of Wayans Brothers, Shawn and Marlon, this movie is about two African American undercover cops who have to go undercover as two rich white chicks. Thus hitting the trifecta of identity comedies- class, race and sex. Seriously, this movie didn't blow as much as we thought it would. Which isn't really that much of a praise now is it?
Dawn of the Dead- It's the DVD of the remake, not the original. We actually heard that this version wasn't half-bad but we never saw it. Loved the original, though.
Our Pick- Somebody came up with the brilliant idea of putting Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Dazed & Confused together in some sort of package DVD deal. Next week, The Ultimate Party Collection is being released. If you want to go blow all your money on White Chicks go right ahead. But if you have no money left over to buy these discs, you can't say we didn't warn you.
