Innerview: Our Favorite Narcissist

ec.jpgSFist Emily, our penninsula correspondent and intervista mejor, interviews herself today. We thought only Prince could do that after the surgery to remove his lower ribs, but Emily is one suprisingly talented lady. We met Emily at one of her famed curry fetes - you haven't lived until you've tried twenty different kinds of curry in one night! She's currently working to subvert the large San Fran clothier she works for by making cool t-shirts on her own time.

Full interview after the jump.

Name:
Emily Ann Cox
Age and Occupation:

27, corporate thrawl for 6 more days. Then back to school!

How long have you lived in the Bay Area? 2 year stint in the east bay during the formative years. Now 4 years in Palo Alto/ Menlo Park

Favorite website:
I go to KEXP, Lucky, Google, and Wells on a daily basis. And no, I’m not proud of all of those.

Favorite local business:
Mr Mopp’s in Berkeley is where I spent my weekly quarter when I was a kid.

What I’m currently Reading:
9/11 report (still), The New Yorker (always), Harper’s, and Strategy and Structure (slow going).

SF has the BEST:
non-profits, venues for live music (I like the smoking ban, sorry Jackson), and people watching.

You’ve never lived in SF until:
You realize that not a single person is staring at the man in a hot-pink, full body unitard and wings, who is riding a unicycle, flapping his arms, and telling everyone to smile.

Favorite Bay area politician of past or present:
Wavy Gravy. Sure, he didn’t actually get elected to Berkeley’s City Council, but the money saving idea of calling pot holes, “inverse speed bumps” was at least original, and wearing a meat coat around was sheer genius.

Best solicitation from a panhandler:
I’m always struck by the honest ones (i.e. need money for beer)

You can tell someone is local here IF:
Layers. They wear lots of layers. Also they say, “BART” not, “The BART”

SF would be soooo much better if only:
BART went all the way down the Peninsula AND crossed the bay in a few more spots.

Best Burrito in the City:
La Taqueria on 25th and Mission. Carne Asada w/ Guac.

Best Restaurant:
Slanted Door. Sure, it’s trendy now, but you can’t turn your back on its total deliciousness.

Best movie scene filmed in or about SF:
The Maltese Falcon has some cool ones. The scenes from the Game filmed at Filoli are amazing. Bullitt, of course.

I want all the SFists out there to know:
Everything is here. Sure maybe in smaller doses than other places, but you don’t have to deal with the attitude here. Also, I need people to interview! Send me contact for you or your interesting friends. Please.
