Sweet Home Boise

We here at SFist certainly know how much this city loves aging indie rockers. But no matter how many concerts you’ve been to, you’d be hard pressed to find many bands willing to acknowledge, let alone comply with, the obligatory drunken request for Lynyrd Skynyrd’s "Free Bird" [Ed. Note: If any reader knows the history behind the Free Bird Request phenom, SFist is dying to know]. To our knowledge when Built to Spill ended at set at Slim’s a few years back with a nearly half hour long rendition of "Free Bird" they were the first and only band to ever actually oblige the crowd.

Boise’s favorite sons will be performing at Slim’s both tonight and tomorrow. Although it’s been nearly three years since Built to Spill’s last release, it’s a sure bet that front man Doug Martsch that will bring his intense guitar style and indie-anthem lyricism to the show. Who knows - they may even be taking requests.
