There Are no (Film) Fans in Hell

SFist has already made it clear that we are down with the 4 Star. And that's why we're so psyched that tonight marks the opening night of the 8th Annual Asian Film Festival, and possibly the last one to be held at the 4 Star (sniff, sob).

The festival runs from August 12-23, and the schedule just blows us away. Every single day movies we've been dying to see are showing, so we're considering going on disability so we can devote ourselves fully to moviegoing.

Barring that, what about this evening? Tonight they're opening with Ju-On: The Grudge. This movie is creepy and spooky in the same way that Ringu was, which makes sense, since it comes from the same folks. You might remember that Ringu was remade in America as The Ring. Well, they're doing the same thing with The Grudge, starring SFist's girlfriend Sarah Michelle Gellar (well, technically, our girlfriend is actually Buffy, but we're not picky).

If nothing else, this is your chance to see the original, so when people mention the one with Buffy, you can airily say "Yeah, but is it scary as the original?" and know what you're talking about.
