Or so says Vikter Veysey, who first approached SFist as we were riding our bike to the Caltrain Station along the Embarcadero. Although we turned town his invitation to be a bicycle ballerina in his upcoming music video, we were flattered enough to make him SFist’s very first interview subject (and for the record, SFist likes to boogie, we like to get down, we like to be asked to dance, but ballet isn’t really our cup of tea).
Vikter Veysey pedals his own brand of social change along with bike rentals at the Bike Hut near pier 40 on the Embarcadero. In addition to offering classic Schwinn cruisers, Vikter is a musician in the midst of a self-proclaimed prolific stage. If you happen upon Vikter, SFist strongly urges you ask him to translate the lyrics to his Japanese novelty song.

Full interview after the jump.
How long have you lived in the Bay Area and Where?
I have lived in the Bay Area since 1990, when I first moved into an
apartment on Golden Gate Ave. in the Western Addition. Since then I have lived in the Lower Haight for the most time (2000-2004) but have also sampled the East Bay. I grew up in Santa Cruz.
Favorite website?
I use Google a bit. In general I don't do much computer time, my shop
being off-grid.
Favorite dot com or local business?
My favorite local business is Rainbow Grocery, who keep me healthy and
inspired.
SF has the BEST:
Cops for ignoring little infractions like bustin' red lights on my bike
and parking of herb.
You’ve never lived in SF until:
You've met Jonathon Richman at a Matt Gonzalez party.
Favorite Bay area politician of past or present:
Matt [Gonzalez]
Best solicitation from a pan handler:
Hey man, I just need a dollar so I can go to a job interview (from a
bummie of such dereliction that his stink almost overpowered me.)
You can tell someone is local here IF:
They wear a sweater around their waist on a sunny summer day.
SF would be soooo much better if only:
Political corruption caused internal hemorrhaging.
Best Burrito in the City:
Cancun -veggie with black bean, no cilantro, no onion.
Best movie scene filmed in or about SF:
Dirty Harry has to take it, although I'm hoping the new Schwinn Cruiser
video will be memorable San Franciscan as well.
I want all the SFists out there to know:
Every time you participate in the oil economy you are supporting the
War. Ride yer bike!!!!!
If you’d like to nominate a local to be interviewed on SFist please email us their contact info and a small blurb about who they are.
