A man fleeing the scene of a car accident on foot was struck and hit by a car Sunday morning. The earlier accident had happened on northbound 880, but the decedent had jumped the barrier in an attempt to run across the highway. Other men also fleeing the original car accident have not been found.

Berkeley sees its second murder of 2004, just two weeks after its first. Police are investigating. This murder took place on Alcatraz and Adeline. The earlier murder took place in the victim's grandmother's front lawn, on Ashby Avenue.

The upscale boutiqueries of the Haight Ashbury and the upper Fillmore have been targeted by a so-called hillbilly bandit, who speaks with a strong Southern accent and uses a large serrated knife to intimidate women employees alone in the store.

A Virgin Airways flight to London was grounded at SFO yesterday. The official reason given was because of a drunk and unruly passenger, but airport officials acknowledge that five Romanian passengers were also asked to leave the flight. The flight was cancelled, and the plane searched. Nothing suspicious was found.
